2Qimic are a Spanish duo based out of Madrid, bringing their first single, “Ancient” to Steyoyoke Black. It's an accessible release packed with 2 strong originals and two remixes from MPathy – balancing heavy beats with the kind of shimmering details that give 'Ethereal Techno' its name.
With 'Ancient', 2Qimic showcase a vivifying bass line accompanied by splashes of eminence through a complexity of synthesized sounds. 'Backroom' sheds light on the devastating beauty within darkness. And finally MPathy's interpretation of “Ancient” is an evocative and emotive never-ending climax. Siren-like synths lead way to an ever-increasing attachment to the rhythms and melodies, in an almost addictive way. Last but not least, MPathy's approach to re-construct 'Backroom' will leave you simmer, craving for more of his dark, hypnotic and patented groove groundwork.
Overall 2Qimic delivers a compelling EP which shows a mastery of tones – four tracks focus on a dancefloor-friendly side of techno. It's an exciting release for the duo, with hopefully many more to come.
